An Honest Review of The Sims

Oh… Sims! One of the first games played by computer game lovers is the Sims series. We all started by being jealous of the Goth family home. So, where is The Sims today?

Look at that city! Full of peace and comfort… We didn’t have many options, yes. We customized the characters by clicking left and right and choosing one of the ready-made hairstyles. But for the game’s era, gosh! We all loved playing the god game in this little world.

In the 2000s, The Sims was the only product that met such high expectations. We were all wrapped up in this game as there weren’t many options to compare. But now we are in 2023, and the game industry has done some crazy work. Where are The sims in this picture?

In 2004, The Sims 2 was released just four years later. And it was a shock to all of us. Look at all this chaos!

“Bro, did you see what I did? I can change the size of his eyes!”

The Sims 2 is still the best story Sims game today, based entirely on my opinion. Because while playing Sims 2, I was sure that my Sims acted independently of me like a complete rebel.

“I am your god!”

Even though I screamed, they insisted on burning the house and drowning themselves. In addition, all the decorations, short scenes, and characters added to the game made the game great. Yes, the loading screens were annoying, but it was 2004. We were all playing games on the computers we knew. However, the customization of the characters and the incredible depth of the game with the add-on packs make the game still the best-developed game of the Sims series, in my opinion. Because when we look at the timeline, Sims 2 is a game that puts the MOST features on the previous game and did it in only 4 YEARS.

And that’s the game… We had that in The Sims 3; it’s the basis of the question, why not the Sims 4? There should have been such a game after The Sims 2 that we shouldn’t have said, damn lovely graphics; we want to detail. And that game came. The Sims 3 gave us that wondrous thing we’re still crazy about today: the OPEN WORLD! Unlimited! You can run anywhere. You can drive anywhere; you can ride a bike. Oh, it sounds like a dream!

Five years later, in 2009, EA introduced Sims 3 to Sims lovers. The Sims 2 met the expectations at a significant level. However, the game world continued to develop without slowing down, and Sims 2 was insufficient in some aspects (Graphics, optimization). That’s why EA has added better features to character customization, giving us a great design space where we can choose the COLOR WE WANT. Creativity was really on a whole different level with The Sims 3. (The Sims 4 could never)

However, the add-on packs made the game quite exciting. And there were no separate packages for each small animal like today. Yes, horses and dogs were in the same package! (Sims 4 could never) Also, pretty details such as gift-giving between players made the game more social.

Well, I counted. There are 11 expansion packs after the game was closed to development. Apart from that, there are nine stuff packs… And they were all PERFECT.

World Adventures, Ambitions, Late Night, Generations, Pets, Showtime, Supernatural, Seasons, University Life, Island Paradise, and Into the Future.

They were all excellent expansion packs. The content was sufficient and of good quality. Until the release of The Sims 4, that is, until 2014, only as many add-ons were released as I can count. Pretty good. With the latest add-on, we went to the future and said goodbye to The Sims 3.

In 2014, there was a development that drove us all crazy. We played the Sims 4 Create A Sim Demo. And wow!

“Look, bro, I pull it by the edge, and it expands! I grab and pull the nose to shape it into what I want.”

By the way, I didn’t mention the building issue throughout the article. The Sims 4 is arguably the most successful game in the building. We’ll come to that later.

Sims 4’s smoother, arguably more realistic graphics drew us all in simultaneously. We showed a consumption frenzy, and we all bought Sims 4. It got free a few years later, but shh, we’re not talking about it.

In the trailers released, the game was thought to be wildly realistic. Emotions, oh my god, look at these reactions! Well... They’re fake. The story depth we had in The Sims 2 may not have been in Sims 3, but Sims 3 gave us improved CAS, build, and open world. So we weren’t too upset about it. But we expected that the Sims 4 would have them all. If you are developing something new, it should be better than the previous ones. Unfortunately, only graphics and a softer, more customizable CAS did not save Sims 4. However, unfortunately, we found ourselves playing Sims 4 for thousands of hours due to optimization problems and the universal preference for playing a new one.

The Sims 4 gave us a social gallery to share our sims and homes. That was nice, yes. In addition, clothes, hair, make-up, and furniture were closer to today’s trends. But when the game was first released, I guess toddler and pool weren’t a trend. (cough)

Almost ten years since 2014. This is the longest-developed Sims game. It’s still developing.

We are still waiting for a ton of add-ons to be added to the game, which should have already been in the game by now. They still don’t fix packages full of millions of glitches. Let’s be honest. Can anyone have a wedding in the fun without going crazy? However, there are tons of packages, and they are all expensive. According to The Sims fandom source, there are currently thirteen expansion packs, twelve gaming packs, and eighteen stuff packs. And are we ready? Twenty-three kits have been released for The Sims 4! (And the audience goes wild.)

I mean… I mean... Is this necessary? There are millions of people playing this game. And unfortunately, there is no game like this on the market yet. Knowing that this game is unlike any other and that we must play it, EA sells everything that can come together in pieces. And this doesn’t seem right. The Sims 4 lacks any story depth. If you create a story in your head, you can play it with good graphics. But that’s just it. Open world, detailed customization, and packages with enough content are all just dreams. The Sims 4 took everything that made us happy in the previous games and gave us only good graphics and build mode. Thanks to God. Also, for people dealing with mods and custom content in this game. Ea could never, guys!
